What is Lead-Based Paint?

The term lead-based paint as it applies to real estate, refers to paint that contains potentially dangerous levels of lead, a toxic metal that can cause various health problems, especially in children.

During your home search, you may come across home listings that could be homes with lead-based paint.  If lead-based paint is an absolute no in your criteria, be sure to let your Syan Real Estate broker know.

1978

Homes that were built prior to 1978, often used lead-based paint. Since the Government banned the use of lead-based paint, sellers with homes around this year must now disclose any information about known lead-based paint in their home.

Affects

It can cause brain damage, seizures, behavioral problems, learning disabilities and in some cases, death.

Symptoms

Some symptoms from exposure to lead poisoning may include nausea, stomachaches, headaches. Children, may show no symptoms at all.
